Just like a toque-wearing Moses, Andre Rochat parted the waves of Vegas price range buffets in 1980, bringing the cuisine of his native France to a culinary arts desert. Rochat has since included Andre's at the Monte Carlo and Alizé at the Palms. But his provincially decorated flagship in a 1930s-era downtown house-with four cozy eating rooms, every representing a different French city and ornamented by using plenty of wood, tapestries, and gentle lighting-is still moving good, owing simply to a food list that includes both classic French dishes such as coquilles Saint Jacques (scallops in a wine-enriched cream sauce) and a lot of with updated twists, like grilled quail with figs and prosciutto. Entrée prices start in the mid-30s.
